Thai independent film Solids by the Seashore (ทะเลของฉัน มีคลื่นเล็กน้อย ถึงปานกลาง) will be screened this Saturday at Sati Bar Craft Cafe in Sukhothai, bringing the award-winning film to audiences outside Thailand’s major cinema centres.
The screening invites audiences to leave the city behind and look towards the sea—not simply as a landscape of waves and beaches, but as a space shaped by concrete structures, beliefs, memories, and relationships that may struggle to find a place to exist.
Directed by Itt Patiparn Boontarig, Solids by the Seashore explores the tension between nature and human intervention, asking what happens when people attempt to build solid structures against the force of the sea. What begins as an effort to protect the coastline may ultimately transform it forever.
The screening will be followed by a post-screening discussion, offering audiences an opportunity to reflect on the film and exchange ideas around its themes of environment, memory, relationships, and the impact of human intervention on natural landscapes.
The event is part of a growing network of independent and community-based screening initiatives bringing Thai alternative cinema to audiences in cities and communities beyond the traditional film circuit.
