“So Long, Maesalong,” the first fiction feature directed by Snook Thanakrit Duangmaneeporn after “Breaking the Cycle,” and produced by Itt Patiparn Boontarig, has been selected for Thai Pitch at Cannes. We will bring the untold story of Doi Maesalong to the European market, alongside two other exciting projects, “The Weight of Ash” and “The Apocalypse of Bees.”

Ghost of the Currents won the Barebones Award at the Q Cinema Project Market (QPM)!
Since post-production will play a crucial role in this film, we’re grateful for the support from Barebones. After many meetings, we have come to realize that the Philippines faces environmental and river-related issues similar to those in Thailand, which makes the story resonate even more and allows the concept to travel further.
We also would like to thank the Q Cinema Project Market. Attending this year allowed me to reconnect with old friends, meet lovely new ones, and have many fruitful meetings. We’re now ready to move forward to the next steps of developing this project.

Ghost of the Currents received two more awards at the DMZ Industry Documentary Pitch!
These include the Excellence Award (10,000,000 KRW) and the Green Stories Award, which will take us to a film lab in Goa, India this November.
As a hybrid project that feels both new and challenging, we are grateful for every opportunity to share it in a lab or pitching forum. Through this journey, we’ve realized that pitching a hybrid film may be the most difficult kind of pitch, yet also one of the most rewarding to learn from.
We also received thoughtful feedback from people in the documentary industry that helped us see the path ahead more clearly and understand what we should be mindful of.
We are deeply grateful to our kind mentor Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan, the dedicated DMZ Docs team, and all the friends, old and new, who shared this journey with us.

We won the Popple Pictures Award!
“Ghost of the Currents” has received the Popple Pictures Award at Docs by the Sea.
At first, I felt that simply being selected at Docs by the Sea was already an award in itself. This was our first documentary film lab, and it was such a wonderful experience to develop our film by the beach in Bali with our lovely mentor, Zeynep Güzel.
But then we actually won this award! Thank you so much to Armi Rae Cacanindin and Popples Pictures for seeing our project as promising and offering us one year of consultation. This means so much to us because a hybrid project is really challenging, and having Popples Pictures, that have produced both documentary and fiction, supporting us as consultants is just perfect for us.
Thank you to our amazing team: Producer Napakarn Boontarig, Co-director Kalil Pitsuwan, Editor Beer Nisarat, and those who were behind the trailer, Panisa Khueanphet, Thanakrit Duangmaneeporn, and of course, Ka-ge Mulvilai.
And special thanks to Gugi Gumilang, and the entire Docs by the Sea team for creating such an wonderful film lab, so productive, yet so chill at the same time.

Another Thai project selected is “Ray of Light” by Nontawat, produced by Awat, back in the project market together again after Cannes.
Thank you QCinema Industry for the support.

Back at Cannes once again!
Back at Cannes once again!
From ทะเลของฉันฯ – Solids by the Seashore to my second feature GHOST OF THE CURRENTS.
I’ll be joining ‘Thai Pitch at Cannes’ on May 19–20 at the Thai Pavilion, Village International, with Mod Napakarn (Producer) and Kalil Pitsuwan (Co-director/Writer)
This year feels special with the world premiere of A Useful Ghost, a Thai film with a new cinematic language by Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke.
With the support of THACCA, this year Thai cinema has a wider presence at the festival. More emerging filmmakers are here, including short filmmakers experiencing Cannes for the first time. It redefined the sacredness of Cannes, once distant for Thai filmmakers, closer than before.
Thanks to THACCA and P’Don for your continued support, and to Raymond for helping us arrange the meetings.
See you around!

Fruitful meetings at Cinema at Sea
Throwing it back to last month when we had our first pitch and fruitful meetings at Cinema at Sea in Okinawa, which was also supported by THACCA and the Thai Film Foundation. Thanks to the festival and P’Don for guiding us through the process.

We won the Grand Prix Award!
Our second feature film project “Ghost of the Currents,” has just been awarded Best Arthouse Project at the DANAFF Project Market, the Grand Prize and the only Southeast Asian award supported by CNC (the French National Centre of Cinema).
This recognition came through the pitch by my amazing team, Producer Napakarn Boontarig and Co-director Kalil Pitsuwan, with guidance and mentorship from Isabelle Glachant. I’m deeply impressed and proud of the teamwork we’ve built together.
Beyond the award, we also received valuable feedback that will help us further shape the project.
Thanks to the festival team and all the juries for recognizing the importance and urgency of this story and for believing in our film.
